Pupils at Church Hill C of E Junior School stepped back in time recently as the whole school took part in two exciting Ancient Greek Days, packed full of creativity, history and hands‑on learning.
Across the two days, children explored key aspects of Ancient Greek civilisation, linking their learning to the National Curriculum through history, English, design and technology, cooking and PE. The immersive experience allowed pupils to deepen their understanding of the ancient world while developing practical skills and enjoying a wide range of engaging activities.
Pupils took part in an engaging and thought-provoking British Values Day focused on the theme of the Rule of Law. Throughout the morning, pupils explored why laws are important in modern society and discussed how they help to keep people safe both online and offline.
On Monday, Church Hill CofE Junior School was buzzing with excitement as pupils took part in a whole-school STEM Day, organised by our Science Leader, Mrs Kite.
The day began with a spectacular assembly packed full of fascinating science experiments. Children watched in amazement as a lemon erupted, tried to work out the secret behind a mysterious leaking bottle and even discovered how it is possible to step through a single piece of paper!
World Book Day was a truly wonderful celebration of imagination and creativity! So many children came to school in amazing costumes, bringing their favourite stories vividly to life. We began the day with a fabulous whole‑school assembly, where Mrs Saxton crafted an adventure story using ideas from every class. The highlight was watching Mrs Garlick guide four talented children as they illustrated the story live while it was being created!

What a wonderfully French-filled day we have had at Church Hill! From the moment the children arrived, the school was alive with French language, culture and creativity as we celebrated French Day 2026.
Church Hill C of E Junior School is delighted to celebrate the achievements of our pupils following the announcement of this term’s Attendance Award and Reading Raffle winners.
We are incredibly proud to share that around 40% of the school did not miss a single day this term, demonstrating fantastic commitment, resilience and enthusiasm for learning. All pupils who achieved 100% attendance were rewarded with 15 house points each, recognising their outstanding effort. Their names were then entered into a prize draw using a spinning wheel, building excitement across the school. The wheel stopped on one lucky pupil, who was awarded an Amazon voucher as this term’s attendance winner.
